Graffiti-Fest 2010
We can proudly say that event definately was succesfull. There were 8 teams, each 3 members. Head of jury was special guest, Director of US Peace Corps in Ukraine, Mr. Douglass Teschner. Main topic of all works was healthy lifestyle. During the contest volunteers gave out hand-outs on HIV/AIDS, safe sex etc. Also there was a live presentation how to use condom properly with a condom and banana =) Audience and jury were both impressed with honesty, openness and artistic level of all works. But in the end jury selected 3 best works. After that everyone was asked to leave a comment in graffiti-style on blank boards. We thank all Peace Corps, Dolia and other volunteers who helped us to arrange an event! By the way, youth liked this so much that we had to promise to do Graffiti-Fest annually!
'WELL' program took place On Saturday, April 10th WELL program took place in Uzhhorod national university. It is organized annually by Peace Corps Ukraine. This time 2 Dolia volunteers participated in it as 'teachers' - Alexander Sheleviy and Michael Mashakada. Program is designed for university and higher grade school students to improve their English. They are tought about music, history, project planning and leadership - all in English. This year program was very successfull, the best of participants will be selected to join CACTUS program which will take place in Summer.Easter for internat graduates
Material help for unsecured family On February, 20th Dolia helped unsecured family from Uzhhorod, whose son is attending our "Weekend club for street children". They are in crisis now. We bought mostly needed products like bread, pasta, pork, potatoes etc. for 97 UAH.Clown and a Pirate in Chaslivci On February, 10th two of Uzhhorod University students temporarily became a Clown and a Pirate and went to Chaslivci internat. They showed the youngest kids little puppetry perfomance. But two things children liked the most were "fights" with inflatable swords and building castles out of plastic glasses.
New Year Actions: Bereznyj
In the end of our voyage it turned out that it isn't that easy to leave that school now. All the children liked our volunteers so much (especially one girl who is looking exactly like Ukrainian famous singer Nastya Kamenskykh). So in the end we all exchanged with our contact details with kids and came back to Uzhhorod. New Year Actions: Uzhhorod
All the graduates wrote down their wishes for the New Year and passed them to Santa. Besides that all students of school 5 and 6 were invited to watch a movie in Dolia's office. |

Клуб вихідного дня продовжує свою роботу! В суботу, 22-го травня, в офісі "Долі" відбувся перший цьогорічний літній клуб. Зараз ми міркуємо над новими ідеями як влітку зробити цей клуб максимально корисним та цікавим для дітей.
On Sunday, April 18th Dolia with financial support of US Peace Corps in Ukraine have done first in Uzhhorod graffiti contest - Graffiti-fest 2010.
On April, 3rd Dolia organized Easter supper for internat graduates in Uzhhorod. All of them were very gratefull and happy.
On the January, 14th, the "old" New Year we visited boarding school in Velyky Bereznyj. Besides members of Dolia, Uzhhorod National University students were there. We showed kids our concert, did many contests with prizes (mostly toys brought by students).
On December, 28th we've had another action with boarding school graduates - this time in Uzhhorod. Event was successfull, after the dinner Santa showed up, greeted everyone with upcoming New Year and gave a lot of presents.
